Balkanik Festival – Home of World Music is an internationally recognized event renowned for its unparalleled ambiance, distinctive artists that attendees have the privilege to encounter, its inclusive nature, and its role as a cultural nexus for the communities of Bucharest. It will make its return from September 8 to 10 at Uranus Garden and Uranus Street, marking its 10-year anniversary.
The 10th edition of the event introduces a fresh element: the Balkanik Street Fair on Uranus Street. Over the weekend of September 8-10, the street will close to vehicles, transforming into an enthralling exploration of regional culture and inventive traditions. This includes a reimagined crafts fair, jam sessions, workshops, and a plethora of activities that further enrich the festival.
Since its inception, the Balkanik Festival has endeavored to advocate for the inclusion, comprehension, and embrace of diverse cultures through music and various arts. During its 10th edition, the organizers unveiled the Balkanik Manifesto to articulate the values that underpin the event:
"For 10 years, we've witnessed the best in our attendees. For a decade, we've celebrated multiculturalism - where people sing along, even if unfamiliar with the language. Uranus Garden, home to the renowned water tower crafted by Anghel Saligny, one of Bucharest's most exquisite historical landmarks, remains one of the last remnants of the old Uranus district. The latter was razed during the communist dictatorship to make way for the People's House. Balkanik Festival revisits its roots in this expansive garden at the heart of Bucharest, a mystical locale that has hosted seven editions to date. Within Uranus Garden, concerts will resonate from the festival's grand stage, supplemented by art exhibitions, craft demonstrations on the verge of obscurity, and relaxation zones for attendees to unwind from the urban hustle.
Gaining international acclaim as one of Europe's most spirited and genuine genre festivals, Balkanik Festival perseveres in its mission to unite the West and East in Bucharest.
